a cure for boredom...

I had quite an early start this morning. Having woken up at 5am, I found myself with lots of time to kill and decided I'd start brainstorming cupcake ideas for my cousin's upcoming baby shower. Brainstorming turned into actual baking and this is the result. Everything was made from scratch including the royal icing flowers. My piping skills are definitely on the rusty side, but having tasted this batch, it at least tastes much better than it looks. More baking (although not today) is on the way though, as I still need to decide what kind of cupcakes to go with. These are red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.
